  • Add whole tomatoes to hot water. Drain the water and place the tomatoes in cold water.

  • Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard and cumin seeds. Add curry leaves. Sprinkle some hing and crushed garlic in the hot oil.

  • Cook ½ cup toor dal in a pressure cooker till it is soft.
